There is nowhere else in the world like Tulum. One thing to note is that there are no street lights along the beach road, so its best not to bike at night. Our last hotel of the trip was Nomade, sister hotel to Be, and situated right next door. We left the site before it opened to the public and headed to Vallodolid for a traditional Mexican breakfast and to explore the city, which is famous for its colonial buildings and multi-coloured architecture.
We wanted somewhere on the beach, where we could also enjoy great food, and explore some cultural sights, and Tulum really was the ideal location for this. To end the tour, Yosua took us to one more cenote (which we had entirely to ourselves), before heading back to Tulum. I totally recommend this for budget travelers. The Beach Tulum is a luxury 5-star Tulum hotel located at km 7 on the beach road. It can definitely be overwhelming to know where to start, and to get around you will need a car of some kind; as we didnt trust ourselves to drive (and wouldnt know where to hire a car), whilst trying to flag down taxis from various stops would have proved a logistical nightmare and biking everywhere definitely wasnt an option, we decided to book ourselves onto a tour. Delek has luxurious, well-appointed cabana suites, all built with sustainable practices using local labor and artisans.
Bushman works closely with a family here who are happy for visitors to tour their home and earn a revenue stream this way; the family invited us to explore their herbal garden, engage in Mayan rituals, and enjoy traditional music. The walkway to the beach through the jungle at night is especially beautiful: its lit with torches, and there are often beach parties here. You can also take taxis to get to local sights like the Tulum ruins, Sian Kaan or cenotes. Size-wise, it was still smaller than our Jungle Suite at Be, but featured relaxed, beach house-chic interiors, and a giant copper bathtub in the bathroom.

Unsurprisingly, our honeymoon was one of the most incredible trips Ive ever taken. Its arguably situated on the best stretch of beach, and is much bigger than Habitas. Interiors throughout the hotel are relaxed and eclectic, with both restaurants featuring seating on the floor. Yosua had laid out a picnic for us on the pier, and it was truly magical. From there, you can either turn left onto the North Beach Road (Carretera Tulum- Boca Paila) for more remote Tulum hotels, or go south to the main hotel zone on the Beach Road South. There is nothing like having coffee and brekkie right on Tulums stunning beaches each morning! Interiors were dark and sexy. Its a stylish space, with a modern kitchen, open living area and ensuite bedrooms. Spring for one of the deluxe rooms with a pool or an oceanfront tent so you can wake up to sounds and views of the sea! Although some areas are a bit rocky, and of course theres different amenities offered by each hotel or restaurant. Great for girls getaways, bachelorette parties, family vacations, friends trip, or even a small destination wedding. I cannot recommend booking a tour with Bushman Photography enough if youre visiting Tulum; whilst eliminating any stress or hassle, youll be able to explore some of the most incredible features of the Yucatan peninsula with a guide who is an expert in the area, and is also able to act as your personal photographer! We ended the day by heading to Punta Laguna nature reserve, to spot monkeys and finish the tour with a view over the stunning lagoon, just as the sun was setting. Most of the restaurants along Tulum beach are London price or equivalent, but at La Eufemia youll find fresh, authentic tacos for a fraction of the usual price, which explains why its a firm favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. We asked the concierge at Be for recommendations, and they pointed us towards Bushman Photography Tours, a bespoke and luxury tour company that works with a handful of the top hotels in Tulum. We chose to book a full-day tour that included a variety of activities, which cost us $590.
