Because it literally smells like nothing. I am baffled at the reviews that say that this does not last. It's fresh and elegant. I absolutely love the opening to this with the blood orange // grapefruit but after that its just nothing . Original Chance too mature? The nose behind this fragrance is Olivier Polge. Initially, I hated it and had boxed it back up to return it to the store. Either way, I'm not sure I want to hold onto this quite full bottle. There is this juicy, bright burst of grapefruit. It is quite overpriced for what it is but I don't feel like anybody could dislike this perfume. Unfortunately I get a lot of vetiver which makes it a bit masculine on me but I'm trying to forget about it and enjoy it as a whole :). It gives off moderate projection for about an hour, maybe 2, but then becomes a skin scent which is expected for an EDT. I was willing to buy the Eau Tendre and the decided to try, again the Eau Vive, which was the only one I didn't care about and nowNow is the one I like the most! It's tad costly but it just means not any woman will wear it but a true connieuseurs. The zesty citrus opening is sadly gone in a flash, but the heart and bottom are good too if exceedingly short-lived. This smells vaguely different from the one I smelled at the counter that smelt a bit sweet, mine just smelt mainly citrus and almost manly. I currently own and love the entire Chance Coco line. Wow, Chanelthey put Eau Vive in the Chance line, what, I think it's the fifth one or so, they gave it a pale pink color, and made it out to be an easy, bright citrus perfumeso of course I ignored it until very recently. A nightmare! It is very citrus and musk, but the grapefruit really stands out and is bitter to me. At one point I though the smell might just fade away but it's still here a few hours later. It is smooth but I find it very musky, like all the other notes sort of hide or blend into the muskI found myself going back and forth in regards to whether I liked it or notHowever, this is probably due to the price point and the brand which is why I think it would make a good gift. It shouldn't come as a surprise that this fragrance is quite similar to Chance Eau Frache, although they're not entirely the same. Eau Vive does not smell special in any way. Not in my opinion. The search for a freshie that fills me with joy and doesn't disappear in two seconds flat continues. Fresh, flirty and fun. Inadvertently after wearing it for a week, I'm enarmored even if it's not the most complex scent. Grapefruit, which I generally don't like to wear, and jasmine, layered with powdery, metallic iris, are a very unpleasant combo for me. They blend together and it's like they are very lightley sparkeled with some citrus. Its fresh, its sweet and its everything you want to drink in a hot summer day. Had to wash this off sadly. The woods decided to walk to the front. Base notes of the composition mix vetiver, cedar and iris, leaving a fresh, gentle, elegant and subtle trail. In two to three hours it's a skin scent. Fresh, simple and nice, but way overpriced. I was not a fan of Coco Mademoiselle yet back then but I liked patchouli florals a lot. Like all Chanel perfumes it develops. It was slightly repulsive. Later edit: I decided to give it a serious try. Meaning, that presumably Polge the son will not make a big splash with his debut creation for Chanel. I don't know why this is not talked about as much as Eau Fraiche but I love this even more than Chance Eau Fraiche because its not rough around the edges as Eau Fraiche can sometimes be. With Eau Tendre, I can feel juiciness and delicate powder, with Eau Fraiche, I can feel elegant coolness. Some faint flowers on the background after a couple of hours, and the drydown is quite generic. which is always a difficult note for me, devouring all the other notes on my skin. Perhaps one day I will find a Chanel that works well on my skin, but alas it is not this day. Unlike the previous flankers, this doesn't remind me of Chanceit seems like a completely different fragrance. I would wear it liberally, if it were a gift. My friend on the other hand smells absolutely divine with clean perfumes.

The Chanel EDTs are not worth their money anymore, and it's a shame if the EDPs are too much for your skin. At first, I recalled what made me love it in the first place, those sparkling citruses and the slight masculine edge. I began to read all the negative reviews and got worried that I made a mistake. Wow..now why did I have to try this one just when I went on another no buy. VIVE starts very citrusy and tropical , a blast of orange ,grapefruit and clean musk ,vibrant , sweet and warm.

:). The collection was started with fragrance Chanel Chance in 2003, followed by versions Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche in 2007 and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre in 2010. At some point it starts to morph into a floral, and that transition is noticeable for me in that it isn't particularly pleasant throughout. For such a simple citrus perfume this stuff was POTENT on me.The grapefruit seemed to just scream at everyone I came in contact with. Since I live in a hot tropic, it's very rarely that I indulge in my YSL manifesto or Lancme la vie est belle. Anyone? I have six squirts on my arm from a dept store counter and 3 hours later, my nose is buried in my skin looking for something. When I first sprayed this, I thought this was a factice (fake bottle). As it dries down I pick up even more fruitiness and grapefruit starts to become more prominent than orange while as a whole it remains sugary-sweet. This remindes me of acqua di parma- iris nobile! in the opening is heavy and huge citrus, bitter and sour grapefruit followed by lovely and sweet jasmine, then light woody and silky iris vibe in dry down, overall is clean fresh sweet and airy perfume, easy to wear for every day. I love Eau Vive, and it reminds me a lot of (Clinique Happy 2003) which I use to wear in 2005, so when I tried this Chance Eau Vive I remembered the scent of (clinique happy) immediately. This time a get a very fresh and strong grapefruit with a bit of soapiness, but now it goes well together. I will start off by saying that aquatics/citrus scents never go over well on my skin. Only the drydown is very reminiscent of the original chance edt/edp. I will be adding this to my collection for sure. On the wrist they last for 12 - 14 hours, overall reach twenty. I'm 1000% a citrus lover, but the addition of iris (and something else that I can't put my finger on) ruins the scent on my skin and it becomes less fresh and more powdery. It's a big NO. One spray on each inner elbow lasts 4-5 hours and that's not unreasonable. I'ts a bit aquatic somehow. so that people use up the perfume faster then go out and buy more? The citrus, and especially the grapefruit is very very strong. The drydown is nice but nothing you haven't seen before. It's so beautiful! Fresh, feminine, clean, a little woodsy but not too much, slightly powdery - just enough, and delicious enough to wear anywhere. Really nice and elegant fragrance, but unfortunately too bitter on my skin. Unfortunately, my favorite perfumes tend to start young then end sexy and grown. My sisters came to visit me and on both of them that bottle that was so boring on me developed into an absolutely beautifully scent on them. I agree with other reviews, sadly it's "generic", "bland", "nothing special", "zzzzzzzz", etc. Haha! Chanel Chance (2003). Chance Eau Vive managed to sneak into the Chance range without much of a fuss. Unique enough, but not my favourite. It's also so clean cut that I can't get sick of it. If you like citrus fragrances then you have to try this, I think it's also totally unisex and would smell great on a guy. It opens as a sharp, tangy citrus Jasmine fog. thats my opinion any way. This without a doubt is my FAVOURITE Chanel fragrance, followed closely by Coco Mademoiselle.

The longevity and projection is not great and I think overall this is underwhelming. Time for a boycott methinks. I own Chance Eau Tendre and was never really a fan of Eau Fraiche - too green for me. My favorite perfume of 2015, my new favorite 'Chance' along 'Eau Fraiche'(Green)! Seeing the long Dislike bar I thought this must be really bad smelling and I lost any will to test it. Longevity is very good. When I purchased this I was thinking this would be a special occasion scent, but it is so fresh and long lasting I love to wear it every day. As a girl who loves Chanel fragrances--for years--I was a little skeptical about Chance Eau Vive. Good for women of all ages. so maybe it's a good option for a work wear scent? I am afraid I have to agree exactly with foxy_princess.

Piahellgren, you hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately. I just purchase a second larger bottle bottle as a backup. It does project in an indoor atmosphere gathering. I'm almost tempted to try other fragrances during this time to see how much better they smell as I know that Midnight Poison smells amazing during this time of the year especially during the winter. Was at the Chanel store an hour ago to sniff the latest flanker. I guess it's the citrus that does the trick. So strange how perfumes change like that. The only one I can't get on board with is Eau Frache as it's too like the original IMO to justify owning a bottle. Perfumes like Hypnotic Poison and Fantasy tend to work best for me so this was certainly a polar opposite from what I normally gravitate towards. Somethings are just funny: my first passion in this line was the Eau Fraiche.

Dries down sweet, but not overly so. lol. Any more than that and you will suffocate people around you.

It was quite pleasant, lovely; the first 30 minutes, but from then on, hard to find. It breaks my heart to see such negative reviews about this fragrance. Although Eau Vive's citrus character supposed to be more fresh, sporty and active, to me it's addictive, classy and a hint of citric sweetness. It's non-offensive and office friendly. Third; a classic drydown of white musk/cedar/iris giving the scent elegance and grace. The dry down is deeper than Creed's Spring Flower. I find it too metallic but then it dries down a very clean golden pearish scent, the soapiness remains and is the only thing that makes it wearable for me. I am so mad at you guys right now! The blood orange is divine and it wears beautifully on me, of all the chances vive is for me. The citrus notes are not the least refreshing on me, so I wouldn't say this is a prticularly summery fragrance. Did not care for it then. I know Tendre and Fraiche don't have much personality, and aren't perfume masterpieces, but they're refreshing and lively. All in all it's Elegant to wear in the Spring/Summer like for a Wedding. Happy sniffing! What a crazy shift! Overall I like it. The most popular my version Chanel Chance :) . This is the Chanel for you. Then a couple of weeks ago I finally got the chance to purchase it - I will say just this: for me this is HAPPINESS in a bottle! The tendre version has a detergent note that I dont like. The original Chance has that masculine touch but in a classy and soft/aquatic way, l prefer the old one. Oh Chanel..you have disappointed me this time. I'd fallen in love with it a couple of years ago, spraying it on every chance I'd get as I passed by the Chanel counter at work in the mornings. Its winter here in the UK and this smells fab! Its bright, sexy and just my type of scent. I can feel mostly the fresh, citrusy notes but without the slight bitterness I have encountered in other similar scents, it's a delicate, feminine fragrance, both youthful and classy. And it woukd have been good if it was just so - to my nose, after an hour on my wrist it started to smell quite harsh and grating, and I realized it was the iris. Chanel has some fabulous marketing and some really nice perfumes. It a great fresh, soapy grapefruit fragrance. This works so well on a hot day, especially if I'm not into smelling sweet that day. I had the classic Chance and Tendre, but they quickly started to annoy me. Still, what happens after the big citrusy burst, is quite interesting. I would say there's a good chance, that if you like one, you'll also like the other. It's very feminine, non-offensive and pleasant. At first I thought this had magnolia in it because it becomes very creamy along with the citrus freshness, but it appears there is jasmine in this and the vetiver mixed with the grapefruit, blood orange and jasmine makes this such a smoother release than Eau Fraiche. A pleasant, daytime, non offensive scent. Opens with huge citrusy fresh blast, which is absolutely gorgeous, but within seconds changes into a very woody-musky based perfume, nice but I'm not left blown away by this. This is a playful grapefruit fragrance that echoes chanel but is probably something i would give a child. To me, it screams the sophisticated woman.

On me, it smells like a soft spicy citrus..hope they come out with other products in it for layering. I can't believe there's so many bad reviews and dislikes. Eau vive does remind me of coco mademoiselle, but a much fresher version. I obtained a sample a Sephora a few months ago, when the weather was still cold. Where I come from, we have a saying, 'Nature likes to have a rest on the children of takented people'. Just need to get the matching body lotion now! Most citrus fragrances don't have great lasting power that this lasts all day on me without having to be resprayed. It sits on my skin and did not develop. This without a doubt is my all time favourite fragrance, also followed very closely by Versace Eros pour Femme. I find the whole chance line youngish so to say , which doesn't mean it also smells great on any age , I find it very nice on me and prefer it to the rest of the chances by far , except for tendre which remains my favourite of the 4 some , closely followed by the new eau vive , I find it fresh, clean, sweet and very appropriate ! Top notes are very very citrusy. Performance is almost overwhelming, Chanel did not disappoint me at that. Second; a lovely, sweet, moderate citrus, refreshing but not the turbo kind, that will make your eyes water and get you thinking about home maintenance products. I do not smell much resemblance to the original Chance. I'm not sure why this fragrance is getting so many dislikes because I absolutely love it! Classy, fresh, iris adds interest. One of my most complimented clean out of shower non-complicated perfumes. It's so nice! I haven't been a fan of other Chances in the past .. I'd buy a full size. Very basic on the citruses, more acrid than Eau Tendre, girly, fresh and summery, a cute and lovely fragrance. Olivier is on the right track! You can't not like it and it smells expensive. It opens with a blast of blood orange, and grapefruit, then turns into a fizzy orange smell for a while. It lasts well, not a ' resprayer' to me and also the citrus I find to be quite dense, imagine overripe oranges and lemons just on the verge of turning/ almost on the border of decay and ' meaty', that for me is CEV. I sampled and bought it within an hour! It's a pleasant airy perfume, best in the Chance line. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. Eau Vive it combines the advantages of Eau Tendre and Eau Fraiche. Yeah, this is hairspray to me. I find the more time I have had with it the more I understand it and love it more.

I'm wearing it right now, and it's snowing outside. It's excellent. Nothing super unique but very likable and inoffensive. I've gotten so many compliments wearing this fragrance too so it leaves a nice scent trail people pick up and notice more than other fragrances I own. So Happy I invested in this one. just because its chanel? A very positive, feminine scent for all year round everyday wear. It is just so delicious, classy, sweet but not too much, fresh, feminine and it lasts. The opening with the combination of citrus is like pure Lemon, then the florals kick in and the musk is a beautiful one. Can't be without it. Putting the price issue aside, there is nothing wrong with Eau Vive. Perfect for gifting. This one may not impress a more discerning nose because of it's simplicity, but it is so easy for me to like and wear. CHANCE eau vive is a pretty lighter version of Chance. Eau Vive is not an innocent girl (Eau Tendre), but a woman full of grace and subtle elegance. I've had this since it came out. Now it is my 2nd bottle. This is one of the best citrus compositions I have come into contact with, because the citruses are presented in a very elegant, sweet way. Can't really comment more than this Chanel, what the hell are you doing? In eau vive I feel the hyacint in the drydown which I dont feel in the tendre version. The citrus notes strike the perfect balance between being sweet and tart, making for a high quality scent that is fresh yet distinctly feminine. I don't get particular notes in the first hour other than a slightly aquatic floral similar to the style of Creed's Spring Flower. I am in love with it now after a week! Tested this in store, oh my word what is happening to perfume houses? This is like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Noir, without the Noir. Good for a casual weekend, after the gym, to go for coffee or to the office. The base is musky, possibly even with a bit of dry sandalwood, somewhat sensual. I've sampled a few times now--my bottle of Chance Eau Tendre is nearly gone--guess I'm buying this soft, sexy scent to carry my through the summer. What a disappointment! This is my all time favorite perfume.

It was sunny and 70 where I live today and I am on spring break so Eau Vive perfectly fit the vibe!

I adore the scent of blood oranges and vetiver, so I was waiting it's release like a little girl, but when I finally tested it, I wasn't impressed but kept the paper card in my pocket. This doesnt seem to have Patch unlike most Chanel perfumes. As Chanel Chance Eau Tendre smells something like the Original Daisy by Marc Jacobs this one also smells something like one of its flankers. Although I loved the scent, I could not stop gagging and coughing after spraying, even hours afterward. To me, it is just Chance EDP with strong jasmine notes. The fragrance does turn floral on the skin as well, some mixing of jasmine and iris, and then it's reminiscent of Eau Premiere. Like most Chanels, this is a sillage bomb, and it lasts forever on my skin! Classic chanel!! I thought I would love the citrus mix of grapefruit and lemon but I find this one to be over the top with the citrus and is becomes almost too sweet. Not anymore unfortunately as the silage/longevity of this fragrance is poor as is the quality. I guess I'm lucky I took a chance on you Eau Vive. Bonne chance Olivier as the new nose of Chanel. Olivier has stepped into his father's very large shoes and created this fresh & zesty scent. And no. They're both lovely in their own ways. Thanks Chanel & Olivier for another delightful fragrance to make memories by. Can't go wrong with that! It smells like some sulfuric pineapple and Dihydromyrcenol nuance(herbal and limey, like a skin toner for men) and a bit of powdery and musky with animal, fatty smell(maybe is this Blood orange?). But it didn't capture my imagination and make me feel great the way your special or favourite perfumes do.

I tried Eau Vive yesterday and while I didn't have any expectations I must say that I expected more from Chanel in general. It does warm up a tad with the cedar in the dry down after about 4 hours. why are they watering down their fragrances and putting up the prices? Not worth the money in my opinion. This smells like youre peeling apart the sweetest, juiciest grapefruit ever. Uplifting at first but quickly settling to a lovely mixture of flowers and musk. She ended up leaving it for me because she had bought the wrong one. I tried it on today and let it wear on my skin and I seemed to be right on the verge of a headache. This is the freshie I will go to for Spring & Summer because that creamy white floral with the citruses is just so good to me personally. They always tend to develop a "sharp" quality that is screechy to my nose. This is my most favourite scent right now. The citrus is so realistic too. Although Im not exactly sure which one anymore as Daisy got a looot! I think it's possibly one of the least raved about Chanel releases for a long time. I had it about to finish it and will not be repurchasing. In the words of Coco Chanel herself, "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." I really have trouble appreciating this. He was the BEST! This is quite nice on my skin and probably the only one I like in the Chance line. 5 eau premiere. It's truly a work of art as Olivier Polge always does! Yesterday, I decided to test it out again. But though it opens with a citrus blast, this citrus fades quite fast. When others wear Eau Fraiche, I think they smell pretty, but Eau Vive is just not for me. Now that the weather is warm, I began wearing it everyday after my morning shower and find it perfect for me. The very next day, I wore a robe that I had sprayed Eau Vive on. For some reason it really reminds me of the pricey air freshener i once used for my car. Why not just give it a new name? On the other hand, it's not a BAD perfume, it's just quite unimaginative, but it might flatter some lucky ladies with a sporty style, in a hot summer day, quite well. I remember when you could just tell straight away when something was from the house of Chanel. I sprayed this on a card and my friend said it smells like "kindness".
