Tactile Turn has been perfecting their machined pens for the better part of a decade. I probably need to get a Machine Era Classic pen to compare as Nick raves about them. But over two weeks of use I realized, instead, that it allows for a much more solid writing experience. Standard: 11 x 150 (in mm), Mini: 0.43 x 4.6 But there was room for improvementthe grip on the MMC is pretty lacking and while clean, its aesthetic was not, shall we say, sophisticated. As with all Tactile Turn pens, the horizontal milling does wonderful work at making sure your fingers stay put, and it does so without being abrasive like, say, the G10 on a Cold Steel. First, just of this specific line the Safety first, there are threesizes: Standard, which is 5.8 inches long 11.53mm in diameter (at the side click). Nothing could make my industrial design heart more happy than thatbeauty and increased functionality.

It works well and doesnt budge. But on these side clicks, you press this little button on the side, which pops the plunger right back out. This has become a pretty distinct feature of Wills pens that acts as visual interest as well as grip. The tactile in Tactile Turn refers to the custom grooved pattern machined into the surface of each of their pens, making them comfortable and easy to grip during those long writing sessions. Wills gear was stout before, but now with an entirely in-house process he can ensure that EVERYTHING is solid. The clip sitsjust off the body, and is great for wearing on a thin pocket like a dress shirt. This series of small ridges makes for a slip-free experience not something you witness in most other metal pens. I would love to be able to use a ballpoint in this pen, but I dont think Ill be able to find one that works.
The MaxMadCo Bolt-Action Pen has long been my favorite EDC pen. Elegant and simple.
Certainly not too long, and I dont find it too short at all. As first offering in the blade department from Will the BAK is a really interesting proof of concept. This side click is a nice middle ground but much more on the side of the Bic Clic than of bolt actions. Fortunately for both user and for Wills bottom line, he knows how to make a sculpted titanium clip that actually works. This Tactile Turn Side Click Short Pen is made from copper with a titanium pocket clip. When the pen is closed, theres no chance of accidentally accessing the ink. The refill that ships with the pen is my favorite ballpoint refillthe Schmidt EasyFlow 9000. Its still the most fidget friendly pen (or tool, for that matter) ever but the Side Click is close. this is clearly a titanium pen! The all-metal Side Click is incredibly satisfying in both feel and sound and durable to withstand a lifetime of use. So if you wish to replace this clip with some other, you should be able to. Early this year we had some unfortunate family needs I had to attend to and then what seems to be the apocalypse hitting lets just say Im ready for this year to start making some turns. For the Mini version of their pen, however, there isnt much. Second, this pen adopts a two-part actuation color scheme.

Much like the Dead Lock from the Hawks solved the problem of blade play in switchblade, the nock/retract button solves the problem in pens. As with every Tactile Turn creation, every part of the design is carefully considered to the nigh degree and matched with flawlessly exquisite machining. But the cerakote thickness practically wipes those ridges out.

Its fitting that this pen comes into existence as the cheaper (and less nice) Retro 51 fades away. Being that this is a special edition, theres also a special edition card included. I have owned many of Wills pens and other than a few early models with a tip to close to the opening, I have never had an issue. For the Side Click, Will had a desire to machine everything on the pen in house, including the custom torx titanium screws used to fasten the machined clip to the barrel. The action on the nock is unlike anything I have ever seen beforesolid, snappy, and exceptionally responsive. Its also broad nearly the width of the pen itself. Ah, the magic bits.

Lets just say this is a very fidgety pen with a satisfying click (hence the name). For a very long time and on every model Tactile Turn has produced thus far he has used a super strong bent steel clip that is a simple, yet effective workhorse. As a folder replacement its not. Compatible with Pilot G2 Mini Style ink cartridges. Even with the most precise knocks there is still a bit of wobble and bounce in the writing tip. It definitely gives the pen a totally different look. My one concern, and one of the reasons I dont carry it much, is because it looks IDENTICAL to a TT pen and bringing this into court on accident would bewellbail inducing. Pushing the plunger down locks it in place, and it can be released only with the side click. This is everything an EDC pen should be.
I was not paid to write this review. The threads in the pocket came in contact with the shallow tip and pulled ink out. I like the embellishments on the clip, and the size is my target size. This is a side click..

While somewhat noticeable, the groove texture helps to make it a more seamless look. Not to say the threads arent smooth.
