Instead of cyclone, I went for a Grizzly with a 1 micron filter. By adding a few boards to the bottom of the cart you can raise the trash can with lid flush to the intake of the dust collector. Doing this you will see that only small amounts of dust end up in the plastic bag. If it works as good as it looks, you're in business. And why would you need to remove the rubber gasket? You will see that I incorporated many of his ideas into my build. Prior to mounting the filter permanently this way, I placed some gasket material just to the inside edge of the existing gasket material that had been applied by Wynn Environmental. The Wynn filter greatly increased the airflow of my dcs and the chip separator works great! The addition of the Wynn Environmental filter increases flow area to 274 sq ft (for the 35A274BLOL I used) and increases filtration down to 0.5 micron.

We are currently running 5-7 business days behind in shipping the 35 Series filters. And, the straps with worm-screws make for a very secure connection. Yes, the bin was a bit of a trade off. Continuing to fill the barrel and getting too close to the baffle will defeat the baffle and not allow it to filter-out the chips. This material just had to fill any minor void that may exist between the bottom of the filter and the upper edge of the mounting flange. It was difficult to remove and once removed debris from up in the cloth bag would fall to the floor. This latter method is what I decided to go with to secure the collection bag. I purchased the ETG-55 gasket through Wynn Environmental (http://wynnenv.com) and it slid in place easily after I trimmed it to size with a tin snips, as they had instructed. You get one chance to cut this right! I did not have any problem making a good seal, but you could always add some self-fusing if you had a concern.
