Is the new CAIS3 pregnancy safe?
Hey, thanks for compiling this list!
Just wanted to loop back on this because it has citric acid in it and I read in other places on your site that that is not pregnancy safe, thank you!
While trying to conceive we recommend acting as if you are already pregnant, as you could be without realizing it yet.
My thoughts on Citric Acid are here: skincare ingredients to avoid during pregnancy. The Ordinary is coming out with a new lash serum. Hello, Thank you for doing this post.
I have the glycolic toner. Im currently using Hyaluronic Acid and Buffet. Im interested in CAIS 3 as well! I am sure they have saved a lot of lives out there ! Some of these ingredients you will find in The Ordinary range, but in separate serums.
Pregnancy is more restrictive than nursing.

Thanks!
Theres also a lot of study looking into use during pregnancy and improved outcomes from different maternal nutrition issues. I didnt see the following product listed above or in the comments but I apologize if I missed it. Pure rosehip is ok, please refer to my post on ingredients to avoid during pregnancy, theres discussion on Rosehip Oil there. Is Niacinamide 100% pregnancy safe (as in TO Niacinamide 10% + Zink 1%)?
I found the reference for you.
I had a question about Mandelic acid- Ive read on multiple sites that it is safe for use in pregnancy.
what can u do if u have used the AHA 30% BHA 2% but obly as the patch test on the forearm, is it still bad?
The Hylamide range has many interesting products- a 12 hour oil blocker, photography foundation, Glow Booster, it also has a core range.
Where The Ordinary has three forms of Hyaluronic Acid, Hylamide has five and NIOD has 15.
(The Ordinary Multi Peptide Serum for Hair Density). Worse, I actually hate Niod cleansing products.
Thank you for taking the time to look over all these products it really is an amazing help!!
Just one problemI cant stop myself from reading your posts after a few hours of finding it! (*Ecocert And Cosmos Approved). TO is so confusing but your blog is so helpful. 77891.
Ive reviewed the Hylamide C25 Boosterif youre interested. I had no joy with the caffeine either, its for depuffing the eye area and it just didnt do anything for me.
Just wanna make sure coz ive read somewhere that while nursing, one should avoid aha bha products.
Im a little confused. So can I go ahead and use it during any time of pregnancy?
I dont use all of them everyday. Hi! Thanks so much in advance x. I dont comment on dental products at all. When faced with the myriad of bewildering and tempting choices that Deciem has to offer, how do you choose between Niod, Hylamide and The Ordinary?
Learn how your comment data is processed. Could you please tell us if we can used a product containing malic acid during nursing? Is the Azelaic Acid 10% Suspension Brightening Cream from The Ordinary safe to use during pregnancy? Because of this, I skipped skincare altogether during my last and current pregnancy. Ok for nursing but not pregnancy due to the glycolic acid and salicylic acid.
Two questions: 1. Thank youuu so much. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3114665/ check out table 1 in this scientific study. The link has discussion on what if you have used a product that is meant to be avoided during pregnancy.
If I am to get pregnant in the next few months should I stop using these products now or is it enough to stop using them when I am first tested positive for pregnancy. My recommendations tend to be on the conservative side, but note that when an ingredient is already found in the body naturally (lactic acid) or you arent recommended to avoid eating it (resveratrol and close chemical relatives are found in foods, as are parabens) I generally dont recommend avoiding them in topical products, as that is a much lower level of exposure. Is these following hand cream from The Chemistry Brand safe during pregnancy and/or nursing ? Thank you.
-Combination of Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Larix Europaea Wood Extract, and Zinc Chloride: Supports hair density and thickness. Is the products safe for pregnancy safe for nursing ?
Please refer to my post on ingredients to avoid during pregnancy. Licorice root was added to the list based upon discussions with many OBs who were having reservations about it and telling their patients to start avoiding it. These products have different names at different stores and in different countries (and note, as Im in the US I cant even view the websites of your stores in India).
It is absorbed into the body, but conducting actual studies of safety for ingredients during pregnancy is actually unethical to do the studies we need to do to prove true safety. My list is on the conservative side. Aqua, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Oligopeptide-2, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, Caffeine, Panthenol, Arginine, Glycine, Glycoproteins, Larix Europaea Wood Extract, Trifolium Pratense Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Dextran, Maltodextrin, Zinc Chloride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Metabisulfite, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Benzoate, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin. I would consider both to be ok while nursing but dont use while pregnant (the first due to glycolic acid and licorice root, the 2nd due to glycolic acid), Thank you your advice is greatly appreciated, Hi ! I learnt a lot at the bloggers meet, so I thought I would fill my lovely readers in on the latest Deciem news and give a run down on the different skincare brands that reside under the Deciem umbrella. Heres my info on what to avoid while nursing, Been wanting to try the The Ordinary : AHA BHA peeling solution bec of the good reviews but i doubt coz im nursing. Is this safe for TTC? Can you please review this one? Thank you for doing the hard work for us and keeping my baby safe! I totally agree with you.
Thankyou for taking the time to sit and go through everything not just for pregnancy sake but also breastfeeding!
Glycolic acid is uniformly regarded as safe by a lot of people online, but its never been uniformly accepted as safe by doctors, who like pesky things like evidence Glycolic acid is highly absorbed when used topically (as much as 28% in studies) and can be even more absorbed in certain skin conditions, and theres no studies to prove it is safe.
Personally, Im a pediatrician and we get training in products and medications during nursing and pregnancy. Yes, everything safe for pregnancy is fine for nursing.
If you could just review this hair serum from the ordinary it would be amazing as Im suffering from really bad hair loss and Im not sure if this is safe to use: Aqua (Water), Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Caffeine, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, Larix Europaea Wood Extract, Pisum Sativum Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Triticum Vulgare Germ Extract, Glycine Soja Germ Extract, Trifolium Pratense Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Apigenin, Oleanolic Acid, Arginine, Glycine, Calcium Gluconate, Zinc Chloride, Lactic Acid, Gluconolactone, Dextran, Maltodextrin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan gum, Pentylene Glycol, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Polysorbate 20, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Metabisulfite, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, This has gluconolactone, so I would avoid it in pregnancy but ok for nursing, Sorry forgot to state I was nursing (no longer pregnant) so thank you for confirming this <3, I try to answer for both now even if someone is only asking for 1 of them, usually someone else will come along and want to know about the other , Hello!
Kind a scared to try new ingredients while being pregnant, but need smth to work against blemishes and redness. Im actually confused on the glycolic acidso many articles and women have used it saying its fine and this was the first time,I see its not. Niod is about maintaining the health of the skin with cutting edge dermatological technology. I have been avoiding any products with salicylic acid in (and all the other nasties), so I will steer clear of this one, too! Why do you have licorice root on your list of ingredients to avoid when the only studies of it in pregnancy are also in ingesting it and not applying it topically (like resveratrol)?
This is just what I was looking for!, Thanks a ton! I didnt understand can i use it or not?
Products with Salicylic Acid are listed under ok for nursing but not safe for pregnancy. Info here: Youve been using a product with a bad ingredient. Its the form of Vitamin A, its not felt to be as dangerous is my understanding.
I have no idea who Susan Yara is.
Hoping you can help me with the following questions as I am reading mixed reviews. Aqua (Water), Coco Caprylate/caprate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Coconut Alkanes, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Polyglycerol-3 Polyricinoleate, Glycerin, Hexamethyldisiloxane, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.
Do you think magnesium ascorbyl phosphate 10 by The Ordinary is pregnancy safe?
I would avoid this due to the salicylic acid. The second looks good to me.
The AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Can you tell me in-depth why its dangerous? I am asking this because I used to take Isotretinoin before and my doctor said that I should not get pregnant until 4 weeks after the last pill. Hi, Is alpha lipoic acid 5% safe for pregnancy?
T hank you! No, it is listed under avoid in pregnancy and nursing.
Rather than pay famous models to advertise their products, their efforts go into creating cutting edge formulations.
Pediatricians and OBs get special training in how to counsel women regarding product/drug safety during pregnancy and nursing (Im a pediatrician), and my list is pretty conservative. Gluconolactone is a polyhydroxy acid, which falls under the hydroxy acids, I dont think that is spelled out in there.
We dont recognize moderation or gradiations of risk. Some discussion here: ingredients Im not worried about during pregnancy. Hi, there is phenoxyethanol in the ingredient list for THe Ordinarys Hyaluronic acid 2%+B5.
I was wondering if The Ordinarys Squalane Cleanser is safe for pregnancy. But above, products that can be used while nursing, theres the ordinary: aha bha. Hi, if the product safe for pregnancy, is it automatically safe for nursing too?
The Ordinary products listed as safe during pregnancy, are they also safe to use when breastfeeding? But above you have this is listed as Not safe for pregnancy (Gluconolactone).
Any safe dupes? Hi, Quick Question: You have mentioned that coverage foundation is safe for pregnancy. I cant say this enough: THANK YOU a million times over for doing this!!
What is the difference between The Ordinary, Hylamide and NIOD? Hi, so i dont really understand we can or not to use salicylic acid during nursing? I cant comment, thats only 6% of a product. Squalane, Aqua (Water), Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Glycerin, Sucrose Stearate, Ethyl Macadamiate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sucrose Laurate, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Sucrose Dilaurate, Sucrose Trilaurate, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Isoceteth-20, Sodium Polyacrylate, Tocopherol, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Malic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Chlorphenesin.
So I typically screen it out but say use of a retinoid while nursing is up to the person, depending on how conservative you are. I really appreciate all the effort you put into it!
NIOD COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM 3 1:1 (CAIS3).
Susan Yara did a pregnancy skin care routine and she recommended the ordinary glycolic acid toner.
No new information was released, and many OBs still recommend avoiding it as a result. We dont have specific information to indicate that its different than other alpha hydroxy acids. I agree with your doctor that I would stop using things a little in advance, and you should also start taking prenatal vitamins in advance too. Much help! First, theres no studies regarding safety during pregnancy for most ingredients, and we cant do those studies as theyre actually unethical.
Thanks so much x, I address this situation here: pregnancy beauty FAQ. My baby is one and half month old abd i m worried if it would be good for him or nit. It also takes some brainwork choosing which The Ordinary product to buy, when to use it and in which order.
I see it listed under pregnancy safe.
