Latest on the pained Kauai Coco Palms Hotel, Kauai’s first and arguably most iconic resort ever.The place where the rich and famous once stayed and where Elvis Presley’s Blue Hawaii was filmed. We have chosen to name our house Blue Hawaii House in honor of Elvis Presley‘s love for the island of Kauai and his most famous Hawaiian movie which was filmed on our island. They starred in Donovan’s Reef and Diamond Head. Molokai The island of Molokai remains true to its island roots. Makana, one of the twin towering peaks featured in the movie, is located in Ha’ena on the North Shore where most of the film was shot. Being filmed over 50 years ago, it’s interesting to see what Kauai once was. She hosted international royalty, Jacqueline Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and many other legendary personalities. The 1961 Elvis Presley hit, ‘Blue Hawaii,’ was filmed at the hotel. Jaws it ain’t, but the prolific director cited this Kauai location as his most enjoyable shoot ever. When it comes to iconic Kauai films, this movie filmed at the Coco Coco Palms Hotel, will always be remembered. Presley starred in three movies filmed in Hawaii. He arrived at the recording studio on March 21 to start the recording of the film's soundtrack and three weeks later filming had wrapped, with later scenes to be completed at Paramount Studios. The house is located on Kaikio Ewa Place, a street named for one of Kauai’s Governors who was known throughout the island for having the finest home of his day.
